The Expertum way: switching to SAP S/4HANA in four simple steps

Hybrid. Embedded. Intelligence. If someone would ask me to describe the past few weeks of SAP’s Analytics webinars, these would be the first three words that come to mind. Although the pandemic might have disrupted our daily lives worldwide, SAP is not compromising on its vision for an intelligent organizational future.

First of all, let us reassure you: SAP will still be offering support for SAP ERP until the end of 2027, with an optional extension until 2030. As far as timing goes, there is absolutely no reason to rush into things. However, some interesting new functionalities and innovations, that will benefit your business, are only available on SAP S/4HANA. So, in terms of staying ahead of the curve and streamlining your processes, switching early does have its benefits.

There are three main approaches when switching to SAP S/4HANA:

  1. The new implementation or greenfield scenario, where SAP is re-implemented from scratch.
  2. The conversion or brownfield scenario, where your existing system is converted to SAP S/4HANA.
  3. The landscape transformation or selective data transition scenario, where several SAP or non-SAP systems are joined into a new SAP S/4HANA system.

When it comes to the conversion or brownfield scenario, we recommend switching to SAP S/4HANA in four phases to ensure a smooth and problem-free conversion: preparation, sandbox conversion, landscape conversion and post-conversion. Our custom SAP S/4HANA conversion methodology allows you to optimally prepare your system and company for the switch, making sure you receive the right support for performance and tuning after the switch. This way, we make sure your system continues to work smoothly and that all your data makes it to where it needs to be.
